The Research Federation of Mathematics Units of Marseille (FRUMAM – FR 2291) was launched in 2006. Today, it brings together 5 partner laboratories around Avignon-Marseille-Toulon:
- Marseille Institute of Mathematics (I2M – UMR7373 – Marseille),
- Center for Theoretical Physics (CPT – UMR 7332 – Marseille – Toulon),
- Avignon Mathematics Laboratory (LMA – Avignon),
- Toulon Institute of Mathematics (IMATH – Toulon),
- Biostatistics and Spatial Processes Unit (BioSP – INRAE Avignon).
FRUMAM participates in the coordination of the scientific life of mathematicians in the Avignon-Marseille-Toulon region.
It supports researchers in organizing projects that cross its partner laboratories: working groups, seminars, thematic days, conferences, colloquiums, dissemination activities aimed at middle school students, high school students and the general public.
These mathematical events take place in particular in its premises on the historic campus of St Charles d’Aix-Marseille University, equipped with two seminar rooms.
The federation distributes and coordinates CNRS calls for applications to its partner laboratories.
FRUMAM also acts as a house of mathematics where mathematicians meet to work more informally.
The federation is a platform for the I2M library and manages joint subscriptions to the CPT and I2M.
